Can employers impose compulsory homeworking?

Monday 27/04/2020
Verplicht thuiswerken

That was allowed during the current crisis. Even more so. It had to be done as a result of the stricter measures that applied from 18 March 2020 to 4 May 2020.

Since 4 May 2020, homeworking is no longer mandatory but recommended.

Exceptions are made for critical sectors and essential services. In the workplace, social distancing measures must also be taken into account, i.e. 1.5 metres apart.

It is best to put a number of agreements on paper and to provide the necessary facilities such as a laptop or internet connection. Reimbursements can also be made for homeworking or teleworking. And if your policy does not provide for homeworking as standard, please contact your broker or insurance company.
