Social challenges are forcing the organisation to reorganise, i.e. change its focus from task to resident based, with more attention devoted to residents and a higher degree of satisfaction for customers and employees.Innovative work organisation can provide a solution for these challenges because it creates a proactive and resident focused organisation. The centre aims to develop an inspiring organisation with practicable jobs focused on better quality, demand driven residential care.
Approach
The transition was monitored on the basis of the following phases:
- Determining the organisation’s mission, vision and values via workshops involving employees, residents, directors and family members
- Mapping the AS-IS situation of current processes and tasks
- Redesigning the organisation
- Implementing the organisation shift (introducing plans, objectives, linking them to other ongoing projects, team development)
- Change management and communication throughout the project
- Supporting change teams, pilot teams & the management team via various workshops
- Training managers in their new role throughout the different phases of change
- Formulating a detailed implementation plan
Results
- Employee participation has increased through their involvement in drawing up the mission, vision and values of the RCC and their active contribution to organisational change.
- Employees take the initiative to organise their work more effectively and differently and spread their workload.
- The organisation has evolved from central management to shared leadership, in which employees share the mission and vision, convey the values and contribute to the formulation and implementation of policy plans.
