Context
A producer of fresh food products wanted to reduce its dependence on the foodservice channel. To diversify, the company decided to launch a new retail activity in collaboration with an external retail partner. This required both the commercial strategy and the operational infrastructure to be aligned with retail requirements.
Challenge
The company had no previous retail experience and operated entirely according to foodservice processes. The existing production and packaging infrastructure was not suited to retail formats, volumes, and labelling requirements. In addition, pricing, specification management, and product information needed to be accurately and consistently aligned with the retail partner.
Our approach
Moore Advisory supported the transition from a foodservice-focused model to a retail-ready approach. We developed the complete retail product range, organised test production runs, and validated quality and feasibility. In addition, we implemented a streamlined process for pricing, specification management, and product data sheets, and ensured commercial alignment on timing, volumes, and launch moments.
Result
The company took steps towards a more diversified retail strategy. The operational setup was adapted to meet retail requirements, and a product range was tested and commercially assessed with a view to potential further scaling. The collaboration with the retail partner became more clearly structured and was further formalised.
