Horizon Europe – Pillar 2: Food & Bioeconomy

Horizon Europe's Cluster 6 Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment supports research and innovation projects that advance Europe’s environmental sustainability, social equity, and economic resilience.

   Supports projects that that advance Europe’s environmental, social, and economic objectives by addressing human impacts on soil, water, biodiversity, and natural resources. Proposals must involve at least three partners from three different EU or associated countries, including academia, industry, and other relevant sectors.

  • 12 to 48 months

  • Research & Innovation Actions (RIA): 2-6
  • Innovation Actions (IA): 4-6

  2. Fair, healthy and environment-friendly food systems from primary production to consumption
  3. Circular economy and bioeconomy sectors
  4. Clean environment and zero pollution
  5. Land, ocean and water for climate action
  6. Resilient, inclusive, healthy and green rural, coastal and urban communities
  7. Innovative governance, environmental observations and digital solutions in support of the Green Deal

 Funding percentage:
  • RIA: up to 100% for all participants
  • IA: up to 70% (up to 100% for non-profit legal entities)
Average support per project:
  • From €2M € up to €20M
