Bert is an experienced grants specialist. He has a background in Engineering Physics, and obtained a PhD in Physics at Ghent University. Prior to joining the team in 2022, Bert worked for 5 years as systems engineer and project manager focusing on innovative product development. During this time, he gained hands-on experience in leading high-tech Flemish R&D projects (imec.ICON, VLAIO) and participating in EU projects (H2020 ECSEL). Bert can count on his experience in various sectors and analytical skills to act as a sounding board for the customer. He enjoys balancing technical discussions and maintaining the helicopter view to draft successful grant proposals for complex technological projects especially in the focus area of “data science & smart tech”. His grants experience ranges from local R&D funds (VLAIO, Eurostars) to EU innovation grants (Horizon Europe EIC Accelerator).
